Today is my birthday
I had a new lens from my husband, Chris: a Canon EF100 2.5 IS USM lens. I’ve been wanting a macro lens for a while now.
It’s not the best of days to try it out, as it’s very grey and dreary. But I took it over Upton Heath when I took Max for his walk this morning. I’m going to have to use a tripod for close up shots in this sort of light, but I did manage to get a few decent shots.
This one is just to prove that spring is on the way…

Given it’s focal length, the lens is also very good for portraits, even if I did only have animals to photograph.
Here’s Max showing me his muddy tongue…

And one of the Exmoor ponies that graze the Heath…

Finally, because it’s my birthday, I made myself a cake yesterday. This one is Nigella Lawson’s Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake, from her Feast book.

Lovely pictures, Jule. Especially the pony! I can see every hair on its head! The cake looks really good too!
Happy, Happy Birthday!
Again, Happy Birthday! What a wonderful gift – the photos are fantastic. As Audrey said, so detailed! I love the dew drops especially.
