On the Sika Trail

Wednesday 25th September 2013

It was another misty start to the day today, although not quite as bad as yesterday with the sun promising to break through much earlier. For our walk I took the dogs out to the Sika Trail in Wareham Forest, as we hadn’t been there for a while for some reason. By the time we got there the mist was clearing and the sun was peaking through the trees.

I was really surprised by the amount of water around there. Canford Heath is bone dry, and there are only one or two ponds left on Upton Heath. Here, though, along the path, the ponds and ditches had more water in them than I’ve seen for a long time. Max made the most of it…

Lots of water along the Sika Trail still

…as you can see.

Peeking over the drain

I’m wondering whether it’s got anything to do with the drainage work they did there last winter.

Back in one of their usual little stopping places Max was playing peek-a-boo…

while Jez found herself a little ‘island’ to stand on.

Further along the low sun made for a rather nice shot at the Dragonfly Pond.

It was there that we were passed by a couple who were walking along hand in hand, which I thought was rather sweet.

Last photo for today – heading up the hill on our way back to the car.

I hope you enjoyed our walk as much as we did.
