Today was my husband (and also my aunt’s) birthday. We celebrated it by driving to Cornwall. There was no rush to get there – we couldn’t check in until 4pm, so we set off mid-morning with a packed lunch, an overflowing car and two dogs. We stopped off at a Forestry Commission site just south of Exeter called Haldon Forest to have lunch and walk the dogs. I’m sure it’s a very nice place really, but it was a bit of a waste of time. Firstly the paths weren’t properly signposted, so despite the fact we had a map we couldn’t find our way around. That was exacerbated by the fact that there was a lot of winter works going on in the forest, so a lot of the paths were closed. Then it started to rain. So all in all not a good choice of places to stop.
We had booked to stay with a company called Forset Holidays at place called Deerpark Forset in Cornwall (just south of Liskeard). We arrived there just before 4pm and booked into our cabin. The dogs were so excited. After we unpacked we took them for a short walk and then settled in for the night. I had taken 3 days food with us, including Chris’ birthday dinner – an Indian meal I had prepared earlier and frozen. So here’s the only photo from today – Chris enjoying his dinner.
