A cloudy start to August

Friday 1st August 2014

Not that it was cold – it was just overcast. So Jez, Max and I took the opportunity to have a walk on Canford Heath, somewhere I have been avoiding as it can get very hot on the heath and there is virtually no water about at the moment for the dogs to cool down in. This photo is of Jez heading towards Steeple Close.

Once we got to Steeple Close we headed up Longfleet Drive, where at some point recently this large Sweet Chestnut branch has come down.

And lastly for today, a shot of Max, showing us his lovely, dirty tongue.

Once I got home after our walk I was busy shopping ready for the week-end and making more ice cream: which was nearly a disaster as I’d left the custard cooling in a bowl of water while I did some weeding and Chris came home and managed to run cold water into it. Fortunately I managed to strain most of it off.

A year ago today

We went for a walk along the River Stour at Cowgrove, where I took this photo of a Meadow Brown butterfly on a teasle head.
