A late afternoon walk in Wareham Forest

Wednesday 29th April 2015

I did the afternoon walk today. I had booked Max in to see one of the dermatologists at our vet practice, and she is based in Wareham. Our appointment was at 3pm, so we took Jez with us and went for our walk around the Sika Trail in Wareham Forest after the appointment. The appointment itself took a long time: it had been booked for half an hour, but in the end it was around 4pm before we started our walk.

It was a lovely warm afternoon though, and I soon had to take my coat off (the forecast has threatened showers). And when we got to the path alongside the heath Jez had to cool down.

We continued on round, with Max standing in every little pool waiting for me to throw a cone for him as usual. When we got to the Gruffalo Pool he went in, while Jez stood on the side keeping watch.

After that we wound our way back up the hill to the car park.

As for Max, he has a new regime. The vet has doubled the dose of his normal atopic dermatitis meds, put him on antibiotics, given him eye drops and also given me an antispectic wash for his chest to be applied after the last walk of the day. Oh, and she took a blood test to check his remaining thyroid is working ok (which we have since found out is fine). We’re to go back in a couple of weeks.

One of my favourite photos of Max from last year: emerging from the lake at Ham Common.
