Sunday on Upton Heath

Sunday 9th August 2015

It wasn’t quite so hot today, although it was still warm, so I decided to take the dogs to Upton Heath for their walk. As we walked along the old railway line I was pleased to see one of my favourites, the Common Toadflax, was in bloom.

We headed for the pond and while Max waited to play cone Jez stood and posed for me.

We walked around the small boggy area and there were quite a few emperor dragonfles buzzing around. I was pleased when one settled.

But autumn is on it’s way. A sure sign is that the Amanita fungi are starting to emerge.

We don’t seem to have had much of a summer this year. Let’s hope we get better weather in late August and September.

A year ago today

It was a similar sort of day on Upton Heath.
