A bit wet for the tree surgeons

Wednesday 19th August 2015

We had the tree surgeons arrive this morning. Our oak tree has a lot of dead wood in it, and two very large dead branches overhanging the footpaths. The planning permission to have work carried out on the tree came through recently (it’s a protected tree, as are many around here), so we were able to go ahead and get the work done. Before they started I took a ‘Before’ photo.

The tree surgeons arrived and I took the dogs out for their walk (yes, having been distrubed from her slumbers by the truck pulling up at the side of the house, Jez wanted to come too). It looked like rain, so I decided to head to Broadstone Rec. as we hadn’t been there in a while.

It wasn’t a particularly nice morning for a walk and I only had my iPhone due to the threat of rain, so there are only two other photos today. The first is of Jez having a bit of a rest.

And the second is of the brand new scorers’ hut on the cricket pitch.

Years ago I used to score occasionally when Chris played cricket. Oh to have had a nice hut like that to sit in.

We had quite a nice walk and just managed to avoid the rain. We weren’t so lucky with the tree surgeons. By the time we got home it had started to rain heavily, making the tree slippery. The guy up the tree had also heard a loud crack at one stage, so they weren’t keen to continue in the rain and so packed up. They are coming back tomorrow.

A year ago today

We went for a walk on Canford Heath. Back home again and Chris was showing off his latest book, which had arrived that morning.

It must be a good read//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js
